Petrčane

Petrčane is a village and a harbour on the coast of the cove bearing the same name, 12 km northwest of Zadar. This tranquil and well secluded picturesque place is ideal for a peaceful vacation away from the crowds and pressure of everyday life. Situated near old Croatian towns of Zadar and Nin, which offer plenty to do and see, Petrčane is also suitable for visiting the islands of the Zadar Archipelago and The Kornati National Park.

Petrčane boasts with a beautiful big beach with a pine forest that gives you a chance to enjoy the crisp clean sea and to take shelter from the sun in the shades of the pines. There are also pebble and concrete beaches with sandy areas in the water, and the harbour is well protected, safe for boats and smaller yachts.

If you wish to have an active vacation Petrčane offers you various sports and recreation facilities. There are various forms of accommodation (hotels, tourist village, apartments), sports facilities and water sports, excellent restaurants and entertainment at the large tourist complex (discotheque), as well as cultural and entertainment programmes and sightseeing tours at the nearby Zadar that make Petrčane a very attractive tourist destination.

This small village had once been one of the estates of the Zadar monasteries, and the preserved former medieval church of St. Bartholomew (later turned into a residential building) can be found nearby, with interesting remains of fresco paintings.
